Staci May is a GIA Graduate Gemologist and jewelry designer in San Jose, CA. With a career spanning over 20 years Staci has worked for some of the top jewelry stores in the Bay Area designing and appraising jewelry. Her work has been featured in C magazine.
Staci got her start in high school taking a jewelry making class and went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing from the University of Kansas, a Graduate Gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America, and completed 81 of 87 units towards a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the Academy of Art University.
Staci is known for designing one-of-a-kind items for clients using hand-drawing techniques and Gouache watercolor for the rendering. The paintings themselves are works of art and when built become truly a unique memento to last a lifetime.
Inspired by nature and architecture, the designs range from organic to linear representing the mysterious harmonies that exist between the built environment and the universe. Her style can be described as an homage to vintage jewelry with a modern edge. Many items use re-purposed gemstones or metal connecting the old to the new.
